Monthey

Romain Derivaz spent seventeen years in the Monthey first team, from 2008 to 2025, and passed 300 appearances along the way. Berkan Kutlu came through more briefly, two seasons from 2016 before a move to FC Sion; Benjamin Kololli and Steve Rouiller also started here before their careers took them elsewhere.

The ground carries a name of its own reckoning: Stade Philippe Pottier, after the Monthey-trained international who won 16 caps for Switzerland between 1958 and 1964 and played at the 1962 World Cup. Founded in 1910, the club has spent most of its history well below the top flight, though it reached Nationalliga B three times, in 1970, 1981 and 1993, and took a Waadtländer Meisterschaft in 1918. In the 2020–21 Swiss Cup it went further than usual, through to the round of 16 before Lugano ended the run.

Now in the 1. Liga Classic, the club's fixtures against Sion's reserve side, Martigny-Sports and Naters are grouped together as the Derby valaisan. It is a small circuit, the same towns meeting the same towns.
