Power Dynamos

Power Dynamos have been to a place no other Zambian club has reached: in 1991 they lifted the African Cup Winners' Cup, beating Nigeria's BCC Lions 5-4 on aggregate after a 3-2 win away and a 3-1 win at home in Kitwe. It made them the first side from southern Africa to take a continental trophy. Wisdom Chansa captained that team.

Domestically the club has been champion of Zambia eight times, most recently in 2024-25, and has won the Zambian Cup on seven occasions. Alex Chola, capped 102 times for Zambia, played through the club's mid-1980s years.

The Kitwe Derby against Nkana carries most of the local weight. For that fixture, and for continental qualifiers, Power Dynamos usually move away from their own Arthur Davies Stadium to the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The yellow shirts and black shorts that give the club its "Aba Yellow" nickname go back to a youth team Meyton Kaira put together in Kitwe's Ndeke Township in 1971. Three years on, the Copperbelt Power Company took over as sponsor, and Arthur Walter Davies, whose name the stadium still carries, became the club's founding chairman.
