Proin Triana

Proin Triana starts the new season in the Liga ASOBAL, Spanish handball's top division.

Founded in 1978 as Club Balonmano Elena Canel, tied to the Colegio Inspectora Elena Canel, the team later played as CB Viveros Elena Canel before taking the name Club Deportivo Balonmano Triana, after the riverside district it calls home. It became Helvetia BM Prointegrada in 2021, then BM Proin Triana a year later. The nickname held through all of it: Trianos for the men, Trianas for the women, though newspapers still sometimes call them "los azulinos" for the blue in the kit, even as the club's own branding leans on garnet.

The route to the top flight went through Segunda Nacional and then División de Honor Plata, promotion to which arrived in 2024. Along the way came two Copa de Andalucía titles, won in 2024 and again in 2026, both against the club Seville press knows as its rival in the derbi andaluz, Ángel Ximénez Puente Genil.

Most matches are played at the Pabellón Municipal El Paraguas in Triana, though the club has moved bigger nights to the larger Pabellón de Amate, which seats around 1,750.
