Raiders

Three Super Bowl wins sit on the Raiders' record. The franchise added two more, after the 1980 and 1983 seasons, a run that later got the team called the "Team of the Decades" for what it managed through the 1970s and into the early 1980s. An AFL Championship in 1967 came before any of that, back when the league still stood apart from the NFL.

The club started life on paper as the Oakland Señors, a name settled by contest and dropped nine days later, on 13 April 1960, after the ridicule it drew locally. Raiders stuck instead, and the team carried it through three different home cities: Oakland from 1960, Los Angeles from 1982, back to Oakland in 1995, and Las Vegas from 2020. Allegiant Stadium holds 65,000 for league games.

Division titles piled up fastest in the 1970s and early 1980s, twelve of them in the AFC West alone, though the last came in 2002, the same year the Raiders reached their most recent AFC Championship. The rivalry with the Los Angeles Chargers, fought under the "Battle of California" label, has followed both franchises through their various relocations.

No name carries the Raiders' history better than Marcus Allen, the franchise's all-time leading rusher and a fixture of those Super Bowl years.
