Rams

The Rams share it with the Chargers, the tenant Stan Kroenke's ownership group brought back to Los Angeles in 2016 after two decades away. Before either of those moves, the franchise had started further east still, in Cleveland, in 1936.

The identity that outlasted all the relocations belongs to the defence: the "Fearsome Foursome" line of the 1960s and 70s, built around Deacon Jones and Merlin Olsen, gave the club its sharpest image long before Kurt Warner's "Greatest Show on Turf" offence won a Super Bowl at the turn of the millennium.

Across the division, the rivalry with the San Francisco 49ers has run since the NFC West was formed in 1970; the two are the only clubs never to have left it. Seattle and Arizona fill out that schedule every year, a fixed set of measuring sticks the Rams face regardless of where else the roster or the front office has turned its attention.
