Sg Unterrath U19

Unterrath's under-19s begin 2026/27 in the DFB-Nachwuchsliga, the national youth tier they reached only after last season's promotion. The step up showed its cost quickly: in the DFB-Pokal der Junioren the side went out in the first round, beaten 2-0 by Hertha BSC U19.

That promotion was not an isolated result. The 2024/25 season carried the whole academy through one of its stronger runs: the U17s won their league championship, the U15s took both the Niederrheinliga title and the district cup, and the U19s added the Kreispokal at their own age group. Bojan Katic has coached the U19s through that stretch.

The senior side, under Niklas Leven, plays in the Landesliga Niederrhein, the sixth tier, and has its own history in the same district cup competition: three wins, the latest in June 2025, when Unterrath beat DJK Sparta Bilk 3-1 in the final.

The club itself dates only to 1993, when two older Düsseldorf sides, Unterrather FC 1912 and Rheinwacht Unterrath 1924, merged into one.
