Sp. Subotica U19

ŽAK, a railway workers' athletic club founded in 1921, is the institution from which Spartak Subotica grew. When Spartak was reconstituted in April 1945, the new name honoured Jovan Mikić Spartak, a partisan commander killed liberating the town, but the old club's identity never fully disappeared — supporters still use the inherited nickname Plavi golubovi, the Blue Doves, alongside the newer Marinci.

Four Yugoslav Second League titles came across four decades — 1952, then 1971–72 and both West Division crowns in the mid-to-late 1980s — the pattern of a club that kept resurfacing at the second tier rather than breaking through. Two Yugoslav Cup finals ended the same way: beaten, first by OFK Beograd in 1962, then heavily by Partizan in 1994.

The youth setup that produced the U19 side has had at least one player go the distance: Đorđe Ivanović joined the academy in 2009, worked into the senior team by 2013 and stayed five years before earning a single Serbia cap. Games against Vojvodina still carry the weight of the Northern Derby, a regional rivalry sharpened in recent seasons by matches against TSC Bačka Topola.

What the club has not managed, across eight decades under either name, is a national championship at the top level — the closest it came was that 1945–46 Vojvodina group title, won before the modern league system existed.
