About

The **Omladinska liga Srbije** stands as the apex of the Serbian youth football pyramid. It serves as the top-tier national competition for players under 19 years of age, organized by the Football Association of Serbia (FSS). The league sits directly above the Kadetska liga, which caters to younger players, and functions as the specific youth counterpart to the senior Mozzart Bet Superliga.

The competition operates on a double round-robin format, where each club plays every other team twice, resulting in a total of 30 rounds. There are no playoffs for the title; the champion is determined solely by the final table standings. This structure ensures a consistent schedule throughout the season. The league currently features 16 clubs, primarily comprising the youth academies of top senior Superliga sides alongside qualified regional champions.

Promotion and relegation pathways maintain the competitive balance. The bottom-placed teams, typically two, are relegated to regional youth leagues in areas such as Belgrade, Vojvodina, Western Serbia, and Eastern Serbia. Promotion to the Omladinska liga is decided through a playoff among the champions of these regional leagues. The league serves as the primary development pathway to the senior national team.

Qualification for continental competition is a key feature. The champion qualifies for the UEFA Youth League Domestic Champions Path, entering in the Second Round due to Serbia’s high UEFA coefficient ranking. This provides a significant opportunity for young talents to compete on a European stage. The league was established in its current independent national form for the 2006–2007 season, following the dissolution of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. Prior to this, Serbian youth teams competed in Yugoslav or Serbian-Montenegrin leagues.
