US Biskra

Nacereddine Khoualed left US Biskra in 2025 for the second time, having already worn the shirt between 2003 and 2006 before returning for a five-year spell in 2020. Few players have measured out the club's fortunes so precisely: the arc of an Algeria international who was there for both the climb and the fall.

The club traces back to 12 April 1934, founded as Ittihad Riadhi Biskra and renamed twice before settling on US Biskra. Green and black have stayed constant; so, in the desert town, has the nickname Les Biskris.

Promotion to the top flight has rarely stuck. US Biskra went up in 2004–05 and came straight back down. They returned in 2017–18 by finishing third in Ligue 2 the year before, and were relegated again after a single season. Only the third attempt held: champions of Ligue 2 in 2018–19, they stayed in Ligue 1 for six seasons before dropping back in 2024–25. In between came a runners-up finish in the 2016 Algerian Super Cup, lost to USM Alger — with the Algerian Cup and the Ligue 1 title still absent from the cabinet.

Matches with JS Saoura carry the label Derby du Sud, the closest thing US Biskra has to a rivalry with any weight behind it. The 18 February Stadium holds 35,000.

US Biskra go into the new season back in Ligue 2 after finishing top of the division as recently as 2025–26.
