Zabrze Women

In the 2024/25 season the team took seven points from twenty-two matches in the II Liga: one draw, twenty-one defeats, no wins.

Górnice — Miners, in the feminine — ties the team to Zabrze's coal country and to Górnik Zabrze, the multi-sport club whose men's handball section, once known as Pogoń, won the Polish championship twice in the late 1980s and added three domestic cups. The women's side plays under the same identity but has built none of that history for itself; it shares only the colours, red, blue and white, and the address.

Matches are held at the Pogoń Sports Hall, a modest venue holding a thousand people, which suits a team whose senior side has yet to make its mark. Where the club does have something to point to is beneath the first team: the junior squad of SPR Pogoń 1945 Zabrze took the Polish Junior Championship in 2025, having finished runners-up in it the year before. That progression, from second place to first inside a single season, is the closest thing the club has produced to a breakthrough recently, and it belongs to players still working their way up rather than to the senior roster that carries the Zabrze Women name into the league.
