Grunwaldzianki play in the I Liga Kobiet, the second tier of Polish women's handball, and matches against KS Zgoda Ruda Śląska – Bielszowice are billed locally as the Derby Rudy Śląskiej.

The handball section grew out of a broader sports body, GKS Grunwald Ruda Śląska, whose roots go back to Halemba in 1920, but the women's team traces its own history to 1959, marking sixty years in the sport back in 2020. It plays under Adam Wodarski at the Hala MOSiR w Halembie, with room for 570, in green and white.
