«Zaqatala»
FK Daşqın Zaqatala carried the town through the early 1990s before folding in 1995. A decade later Simurq PIK picked up the thread, rose into the Premier League and even reached the UEFA Europa League in 2009. When Simurq was dissolved in 2015, PFK Zaqatala was formed in its place, a separate club in the eyes of the football authorities, carrying none of Simurq's records or honours forward.
That break is why PFK Zaqatala's own story reads modestly next to what came before it: no Premier League football yet, no cup run to point to, just a First Division campaign built from scratch. Rustam Mammadov, who played for Simurq himself, now coaches the side that replaced it.
Home games are played in yellow and black at the Zaqatala City Stadium, with away trips in all white. There is no fixed rival attached to the club yet, only the regular First Division meetings with sides like Şimal FK and Shahdag Qusar FK.
The ground holds 3,500.
