The Estádio Municipal de Díli sits on Avenida Xavier do Amaral in the Santa Cruz district. It opened in 1980.

The surface is natural grass, but maintenance is difficult because the subsoil is rocky and the climate is dry. The stadium was renovated in 2011 and again in 2016, with the latter involving grandstand updates worth US$1.64 million. It serves as the home ground for the Timor-Leste national football team, hosting matches such as their 4–1 victory over Mongolia in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification match. That game is notable only for the attendance record of 9,000 people, a figure that exceeds the official capacity of 5,000. Another event hosted here was the Taça 12 de Novembro. Plans were approved in June 2025 to rehabilitate this stadium and build a new international-standard venue in Tasi Tolu, expected to be completed by 2026. The name 'Campo da Democracia' appears in some historical contexts, but it is not an official renaming of the stadium.
