Semenoff Stadium

Semenoff Stadium (commercial name), traditionally known as Okara Park, sits in the suburb of Morningside in Whangārei. It is a multi-purpose stadium located on Port Road. The venue was originally built and opened on May 22, 1965, by the Whangārei City Council. A major redevelopment was completed in May 2010, which included the construction of the Northland Events Centre and pitch improvements. The stadium has a current seating capacity of 18,500.

The primary tenants are the Northland Rugby Union (rugby union) and the Northern Swords (rugby league). The stadium has also served as a secondary venue for the Super Rugby team, the Blues, hosting matches from 1996 to 2026. It has hosted numerous international matches, including New Zealand vs. Samoa (Rugby League Four Nations, 2014), New Zealand Māori vs. Tonga, and matches during the 2011 Rugby World Cup (Tonga vs. Canada, Tonga vs. Japan). It also hosted the 2017 British & Irish Lions tour match against the New Zealand Barbarians. The venue is still in active use for sporting events, concerts, and cultural events.

Regarding naming rights: the stadium was originally Okara Park. It was renamed Toll Stadium due to a sponsorship with the transport company Toll, lasting most of the 2010s (specifically used as Toll Stadium during the 2011 Rugby World Cup and 2017 Lions tour). The sponsorship ended in August 2018, after which it was known as the Northland Events Centre for about a year. In August 2019, the Stan Semenoff Group, owned by former Whangārei mayor Stan Semenoff, secured the naming rights, renaming it Semenoff Stadium.
