The opening goal came in the fifty-fourth minute when Thisted broke their barren spell. Brabrand responded with a goal of their own in the seventy-third minute, but the hosts refused to let the tie slip. Thisted added a second in the eighty-second minute and sealed it with a fourth goal in the eighty-sixth minute. The visitors worked hard to get back into the game but ran out of legs in the final stages.
Before this match, Thisted had played seven games without a win, accumulating just one point from a draw against Fremad Amager. Their recent run included defeats to Næstved, Nykøbing, Sønderjyske and Skive.
