Sparekassen Thy Arena

That ended in March 2008, when Sparekassen Thy signed a sponsorship deal and the ground took the bank's name along with the region's. The same deal paid for the rebuilding. The work came to 18 million DKK — 11 million from local businesses, 5 million from Thisted City Council — and produced a covered stand of 754 seats and rooms for the business club.

The larger number on the ground is older than the stand. On 20 September 2006, before any of the building work, 5,813 people came in for a Danish Cup tie against FC København — more than the 4,000 the arena holds today, and more than the 6,000 it can reach when temporary stands go up. Nothing since has come near it.

The pitch is heated from beneath and lit to 1000 lux. Two clubs use it: Thisted FC, and the women's side FC Thy-Thisted Q, formed in 2017.

The Thy in the name misleads people. It points at the region, not at Thyborøn, which sits in the same municipality some way off.
