Ben Summers

Ben Summers spent fifteen years at Celtic before leaving on a free transfer to Ayr United in July 2026. He had joined the club's academy in 2011, aged seven, and signed his first professional contract in July 2022.

His breakthrough came in April 2023, when he made two substitute appearances for the first team. Celtic won the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish Cup that season. Around the same time he made his Scotland U21 debut, on 23 March 2023 against Sweden U21, a 3–2 defeat in a friendly. He has five caps at that level, without a goal. The last of them came in a UEFA U21 Championship qualifier against Spain in September 2023, which Scotland lost 1–0.

Regular football came through loans. At Dunfermline Athletic in 2023–24 he played 20 games in the Scottish Championship, scoring twice and setting up two more. A year later he moved to Austria with FC Admira Wacker in the 2. Liga. There he played 19 matches, scored two goals and made two assists. Between those spells he continued to turn out for Celtic B in the Lowland League, where he scored 12 goals in 41 appearances between 2021 and 2023.

Summers first came to Ayr on loan in January 2026 and played 16 Championship matches without scoring. Once the move was made permanent, he began to score. He has two goals in 12 appearances so far this season.
