About the player
Billy Dawson Koumetio was still a teenager when he made his mark at Liverpool, coming off the bench against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League on 9 December 2020 for a debut that made him, at 18 years and 25 days, the youngest player to appear for the club in the competition at the time — a record Stefan Bajčetić later broke. He never added a Premier League appearance to that European bow, and the following years took the shape of a series of loans away from Anfield: FK Austria Wien, USL Dunkerque and a brief spell at Blackburn Rovers.
He left Liverpool as a free agent in August 2024 and signed a two-year contract with Dundee in the Scottish Premiership, taking the number 5 shirt. He opened his goalscoring account for the club on 22 July 2025 in a League Cup tie against Bonnyrigg Rose, and went on to make 40 league appearances in Dundee colours. In May 2026 the club triggered a one-year extension clause to keep him at Dens Park.
In July 2026, Koumetio joined Charlton Athletic in the EFL Championship on a four-year deal, reportedly for a fee in the region of £500,000, and switching to the number 12 shirt. Born in Villeurbanne, he holds dual French and Cameroonian citizenship and has represented France at youth level.
