Denys Ustymenko

Denys Ustymenko broke through as a champion before he was a regular starter. Part of the Ukraine under-20 side that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2019, he was awarded the Order "For Merit" III Degree by the President of Ukraine in recognition of that title.

His path to that summer ran through the wreckage of a club: he came through the youth ranks at Metalurh Donetsk, scoring freely for the junior side, until the club was dissolved and he had to rebuild his football education at Stal Kamianske. He made his senior debut for FK Oleksandriya in October 2018, coming off the bench in a goalless draw with Zorya Luhansk, and spent four seasons there before a move to Kryvbas Krivyi Rih in 2022. A bronze medal in the Ukrainian Premier League followed with Kryvbas in the 2023/24 season.

The 2024 campaign took him away from Kryvbas twice on loan. At FK Mynai he found his scoring touch, netting five goals in 15 appearances, before a second loan spell at Karpaty Lviv yielded far less: a single goal in 12 outings. In January 2025 he settled at Obolon Kyiv on a free transfer, and four goals in 15 appearances across the second half of that season followed by a run in 2025/26 that included a streak of scoring in five consecutive matches. The current campaign has been quieter, with five appearances yet to produce a goal.

As a centre-forward, Ustymenko plays off his right foot and has built a career on adapting: from a disbanded academy to loan spells to a fresh start in Kyiv.
