Premier League (Ukraine) 2026/27

The **Ukrainian Premier League** (Ukrainska Premier Liha) stands as the premier tier of football in Ukraine. Established in 1991 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the competition began its inaugural independent season in 1992 under the name Vyshcha Liha. A significant structural shift occurred in 2008 when the league separated from the Professional Football League of Ukraine to operate as an independent, self-governing entity. This separation granted the league the status of a distinct legal body managed directly by its member clubs, a characteristic that distinguishes it from the second tier, which remains under the organization of the Professional Football League of Ukraine.

The competition runs on a double round-robin format, with matches played from autumn to spring. The championship structure involves a strict promotion and relegation system. The teams finishing in the bottom two positions of the table face direct relegation to the First League. Meanwhile, the clubs placed 13th and 14th enter play-off matches against the third and fourth placed teams from the First League. Conversely, the top two teams from the First League secure automatic promotion to the top flight.

Historically, Dynamo Kyiv holds the record for the most titles, having claimed the championship seventeen times. Shakhtar Donetsk follows closely with sixteen titles and is the current champion for the 2025-26 season. The league has also seen various sponsorship arrangements over the years, including partnerships with Favbet, Parimatch, and Epicenter, with VBET serving as the current title sponsor.
