About the player
Left-footed and standing at 189cm, Ahmed Sidibé built his career away from the French limelight that produced him. Born in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, he came through the youth ranks at CFF Paris before joining Saint-Étienne, where he spent five years with the club's reserve side.
The breakthrough came only after he left France. A free transfer took him to Slovenia's FC Koper in January 2024, and there he established himself as a first-choice centre-back, a run of form recognised with a place in the PrvaLiga Team of the Season for 2024–25. That performance level persuaded Venezia to move for him, paying a fee reported between €1 million and €1.3 million to bring him into Serie B.
The switch to Italy paid off quickly. Sidibé was a key figure in Venezia's title-winning campaign in Serie B, a season that ended with the club's promotion to Serie A. He was sent out on loan to Vitória de Guimarães for the 2026–27 season, taking his career into Portugal.
His path so far has been defined by steady progression through leagues rather than a single defining move: reserve football in France, a proving ground in Slovenia, a title in Italy, and now a loan spell in Portugal. He has yet to add international recognition to that trajectory, with no appearances for France at any representative level.
