Hector Matthew Kyprianou

Hector Kyprianou scored in the 2025 EFL Trophy final against Birmingham City, in 2024–25. By the second of them he was club captain.

The route there began early and took in more than one country. He spent two years in the youth ranks of Omonia in Cyprus, then joined the Tottenham Hotspur academy in 2011. In 2015 he moved to Leyton Orient, where he stayed through the academy years and signed his first professional contract in July 2019.

Before that, he was sent out to non-league clubs to play adult football: three appearances for Harlow Town, sixteen for Bishop's Stortford between October 2018 and March 2019, and one for Hampton & Richmond Borough. He made 66 league appearances for Leyton Orient without scoring.

The move to Peterborough in June 2022 on a three-year contract changed that record. He played 117 league games for the club and scored 14 goals, a return that stands out against his time in east London.

When his contract expired, he joined Watford on a free transfer, agreed in May 2025 and effective from 1 July, on a five-year deal. He has made 31 league appearances for the club so far.

Born in Enfield, he plays internationally for Cyprus, choosing them because of his heritage. He had earlier played for Cyprus at U19 level, with six caps in 2019, and at U21 level, with three caps and a goal. His senior debut came on 12 October 2023 in a European Championship qualifier against Norway, and he has won 11 caps.
