About the player
Yu Jianxian's route to professional football began at Kunming No. 3 Middle School, where he won the Yunnan Province U18 Championship in 2017. He moved into a sports school for further training before joining the Hebei China Fortune U19 youth side, then signed for Kunshan FC's U21 team in April 2021. In his single professional season with Kunshan he made nine appearances and won the China League One title.
In January 2023, Yu joined Yunnan Yukun on a free transfer, agreeing a contract that runs until the end of 2027. Playing time at his new club has come gradually: two matches in China League Two in 2023, three in China League One in 2024, and four in the Chinese Super League in 2025. The 2024 season brought another title, as Yunnan Yukun won the China League One championship and secured promotion to the top flight. Yu has spent this year as the club's second-choice goalkeeper in the Chinese Super League.
He has yet to be capped at senior or youth level for China, though Chinese media have reported that a place in the national team is an ambition he holds for the future.
