About the player
João Ferreira grew up as the son of Rivaldo, the Brazilian footballer. Ferreira has played most of his football as a left-footed defender.
His senior career began in Brazil at Retrô Futebol Clube. From there he moved to Europe, signing for FCV Farul Constanța in February 2024 as a free agent. The Romanian club had merged with Viitorul Constanța and had won the Liga I title in 2022–23, so he joined a side used to playing at the top of the Romanian league.
The next step came in July 2025, when Farul loaned him to UD Oliveirense for the 2025–26 season.
The loan ran until June 2026. Ferreira then returned to Farul Constanța in July 2026.
