About the player
Josema was part of the Górnik Zabrze side that won the Polish Cup in the 2025–26 season.
He is a left-footed central defender who can also play at left-back. He came through the youth system at UD Almería, which he joined in 2010, and moved on to Almería B. After a loan at Real Murcia in 2017, he joined Córdoba CF. Loans to FC Sochaux and Gimnàstic followed, and a move to Extremadura UD came in 2019.
His most settled stretch in Spain came at Elche CF, whom he joined in January 2020 on a free transfer. He was in the squad that won promotion to La Liga in 2020/21 and made 47 league appearances for the club. A loan at Real Valladolid in 2022 was followed by two years at CD Leganés.
Josema then moved to Poland. He spent six months at Ruch Chorzów, where he made 15 appearances. On 20 June 2024 he signed for Górnik Zabrze on a free transfer, initially for two years. The club has since extended the deal to 2028. He has made more than 59 appearances for Górnik and scored four goals.
Before any of that, he had played for Spain at youth level. He won two caps for the Spain U17 side in 2012.
