About the player
Leon Sommer's path to Havelse ran through three different dressing rooms in as many years. Born in Braunschweig, he came up through BSC Acosta before joining VfL Wolfsburg, where he progressed through the U17 and U19 sides and won the A-Junioren-Bundesliga Nord/Nordost title in 2019, a spell that also brought him two caps for Germany's U17s.
When Wolfsburg dissolved their second team, Sommer moved on to Hamburger SV II in June 2021, making 64 appearances and scoring five goals. He then joined VfB Lübeck on a free transfer in June 2023, stepping up through the Regionalliga Nord and into the 3. Liga with the club. In 2025 he won the Schleswig-Holsteinischer Landespokal with the side.
That success preceded another free move, this time to TSV Havelse in the summer of 2025, where he signed a contract running to 30 June 2027. The switch continues a pattern in Sommer's career: every senior transfer he has made has come without a fee changing hands.
