About the player
Niko Farkas began playing football at six years old at his local club, NK Šenkovec, coached by his father. After moving through NŠ Međimurje's youth ranks, he joined the NK Osijek academy in the summer of 2022.
His progress there showed most clearly in the Croatian Youth Cup, which Osijek's youngsters won in both 2024 and 2025. In the 2024 final against Slaven Belupo, Farkas got on the scoresheet himself. He made his senior debut for Osijek in the Croatian Football League in May 2025 and opened his account at that level with his first senior league goal in October of the same year, having by then made close to ten appearances for the first team. The club rewarded that progress by extending his contract, first to 2026 and later, in a renewed deal, all the way to 2029.
Farkas has also worked his way through Croatia's youth international sides. Called up to the under-18s in 2024, he scored his first goal for that side against Montenegro. The following year he featured for the under-19s and was included in the under-20 squad, appearing in a match against Qatar.
