About the player
Oskari Kekkonen came to the Philippines in 2021 as a Finnish-born midfielder from Kotka. On 25 October 2021 he made his Philippines U-23 debut against South Korea.
The senior debut followed on 8 December 2021, in a 2020 AFF Championship match against Singapore. By late 2024 he had won 13 senior caps.
His football began in Finland, in the youth systems of Peli-Karhut and SJK Seinäjoki. He turned professional with KTP in 2016 and then spent several seasons moving between clubs, often on loan. Among them were FC Lahti, FC Kuusysi, PKKU, PeKa and PEPO Lappeenranta. In 2017 he played for Finland U-18 at the Baltic Cup, which makes his later choice of the Philippines a change of national team.
The Philippines gave him a settled run. After the development side he signed for Kaya FC-Iloilo in January 2022 and made 12 appearances. A spell at PK-35 in Finland in 2023 was brief. That same year he moved to Thailand and joined Lamphun Warriors in the Thai League 1. There he played 61 matches and scored one goal.
In 2026 he moved again, this time to Sabah in Malaysia.
