About the player
Raivis Skrebels scored twice for BFC Daugavpils in a comeback win over Grobina, and it came in the colours of the club where he started out.
Skrebels is from Daugavpils and joined the BFC Daugavpils academy in April 2016. He stayed there until July 2019, when he moved to FK Spartaks Jūrmala. He played for Spartaks until December 2022, the longest spell of his career so far.
Alongside his club football, he played for Latvia at under-21 level between September 2019 and November 2020. He won two caps and did not score.
After Jūrmala, he moved often. In January 2023 he joined FK Auda on a free transfer and stayed until June. That summer he signed for SK Super Nova, again on a free transfer, and played there until February 2024.
That month he went back to BFC Daugavpils, once more without a fee, and he is still there. He is now a central midfielder in the senior squad of the club that brought him through. The two goals against Grobina came in this second spell.
Daugavpils won the Latvian First League in 2013 and 2018, before his time in the first team.
