About the player
Rafael Fernandes moved through three Portuguese clubs before pitching up at Marítimo this season. He started out in Sporting CP's academy, spending two seasons with the club's B team in Liga 3 and Liga Revelação, then signed for Arouca as a free agent on a three-year deal. After eleven league appearances there, Lille paid around €3 million for him in January 2024.
He has been registered with the reserve side, Lille B, in National 3 rather than featuring for the first team in Ligue 1 or the Coupe de France, and this season he has made just three appearances there.
He is now back on loan, this time at Marítimo, where he wears the number 4 shirt and has made six league appearances so far.
