Sam Field’s journey through the English game has been defined by persistence rather than sudden stardom. While many academy prospects fade into obscurity, he has carved out a career across multiple tiers. His time at West Bromwich Albion provided the foundation, where he signed his first professional contract in June 2016. He extended that deal twice before making 34 league appearances and scoring two goals.

The path was not linear. Loan spells offered crucial experience, including a stint at Charlton Athletic during the 2019–2020 season. However, it was his move to Queens Park Rangers that solidified his status as a regular professional. He joined permanently in May 2021 on a three-year deal. The move worked; he made 171 appearances and scored nine goals, earning a contract extension in March 2024.

His transfer to Norwich City marked a new chapter. Initially arriving on loan in January 2026, he made between 13 and 15 appearances for the Canaries. The loan became permanent in June 2026 for a reported fee of £1.5m-£1.8m.

Internationally, Field has represented England at youth levels. He earned caps for the U18, U19, and U20 sides, totaling 22 appearances and one goal. A memorable moment for the younger side was a red card against South Korea U17 in 2016.

At Norwich, the focus is on consistency. He has faced what were described as unlucky injury breaks in previous seasons, making his current availability vital. His physical profile varies by source, with heights ranging from 1.78m to 1.91m, but his role as a midfielder remains clear.
