About the player
Samuel Essende joined Paris Saint-Germain's academy at the age of 12 and developing through the club's youth ranks before leaving in 2016. He returned to sign his first professional contract with PSG in 2018, and although he never made a first-team league appearance, he was part of the squad that won Ligue 1 and the Trophée des Champions that season. His clearest mark on the club came earlier, in the 2015–16 campaign, when he scored 12 goals to help PSG's under-19 side win the French U19 Championship and reach the final of the UEFA Youth League — a season in which he finished as the team's top scorer.
After leaving PSG, Essende was again the top scorer at both Pau, in Ligue 2, and at Vizela, in the Primeira Liga, underlining a scoring instinct that followed him through several clubs.
Born in Montfermeil, Essende holds dual French and Congolese nationality, making his debut for the national team in 2024. He has since won 11 caps for the Congolese side.
