About the player
Stanislav Dostal was 17 when he made his debut for Zlín on 15 November 2008, which made him the youngest goalkeeper in the history of the Czech First League at that time. He was already a familiar face at the club by then: he had joined its youth system in 1999, and Zlín is also the city where he was born.
He has never left. Dostal has spent his whole senior career at Zlín, with no loan spells and no move to another professional club. That has meant sharing the club's ups and downs. Zlín went down to the Czech National Football League, the second tier, and later came back up to the top flight.
The high point came in the 2016/2017 season, when Zlín won the Czech Cup. He added the Czech Super Cup in 2017, again with the club from his hometown.
Before he was a regular at senior level, he had been noticed by the national youth teams. He won six caps for the Czech Republic at under-18 level in 2008 and 2009, and one more for the under-19s in 2010. He has not been capped by the senior side.
His contract has been extended several times, most recently until 30 June 2027. In Czech football he is regarded as a one-club man.
