About the player
Yang Li 's career began far from Chinese Super League grounds, with youth football in Portugal at Gondomar SC B before spells at SC Coimbrões and Vitória Guimarães' under-23 side. A short loan took him back to China with Shanghai Shenhua in 2019, where he made a single Chinese FA Cup appearance, before he returned to Gondomar.
His move back to China proved more lasting. A year later he joined Wuhan Three Towns, scoring twice in 17 appearances and winning the Chinese FA Super Cup with the club in 2023.
Yang Li joined Chengdu Rongcheng on a free transfer in February 2024. He has since become an established presence in the side, passing 50 appearances for the club and contributing a goal and an assist along the way.
Before his senior career took shape, Yang Li was a runner-up at the 2015 China National Youth Games while representing Jiangsu province, an early marker on a path that would take him through three different footballing cultures before he settled into regular first-team football at home.
