Courtney Meppen-Walter dies aged 32
Former Manchester City youth player and England Under-18 captain Courtney Meppen-Walter has died, with ex-club Bury leading tributes from the football community.

In the middle of the 2010 season Ashton United were ordered to pay £32,000 in damages. The debt was cleared, and within a decade the Robins had reached the National League North, only to drop back out of it in 2019.
None of that would have happened under that name. The club began in 1878 as Hurst Football Club, folded in 1892, came back in 1909, and only became Ashton United in 1947. For years before that it played as 'The Lambs'; the red shirts adopted in the 1920s earned it the nickname it carries now, 'The Robins'.
Hurst Cross holds 4,500, with 250 seats in the Sid Sykes Stand.
Among those who wore the shirt, Nelson Stiffle stands out as the first Indian-born player to appear in the Football League; Ryan Crowther moved on from Hurst Cross to Liverpool and then Fleetwood Town.
Ashton United still trace themselves back to a Hurst side that once folded and had to be put back together before it could take the field again.
