None of that produced a podium finish at the European Under-18 Championship across the tournament's run from 1948 until 2002, and the team never settled into one ground either, training in Spain and Sweden as often as at home.
What the age group is judged on, in the end, is who comes through it. Mikkel Damsgaard's turn came in 2017, two goals in two appearances for the under-18s, a stretch brief enough to be easy to miss — except that within three years he was scoring for the senior team as well.
