Pitch No. 1 at the National Football Center in Tehran is where Iran's under-20 women train.
The age group only began showing up on record in the mid-2010s, when Iran chased qualification for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup through the AFC's U-19 tournament. It took until March 2017 for the team to play recorded friendlies, among them a win over Ukraine.
Regionally the picture has turned sharper. Iran won the CAFA U-20 Women's Championship in 2024, beating Kyrgyzstan 3–0 in the final, then returned to the same tournament in 2026 and lost the title to Uzbekistan on goal difference. Continental qualifying has been less forgiving: an 11–0 defeat to Japan cost Iran a place in the AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup finals, the first time since 2013 the team had missed out, and Australia and Vietnam later closed off another qualifying campaign by matching margins the Iranian defence had no answer for.
