Lüner SV

The Kampfbahn Schwansbell has carried the Kochan Arena name since 2023, but it is still the same ground on which Lüner SV built its best years.

The club itself came out of a 1945 merger of three Lünen sides, BV Lünen 05, SC Lünen 19 Germania and Viktoria, at a point when German football was being pieced back together from whatever survived the war. It found its level almost two decades later: the Westdeutscher Meistertitel in 1963 sent Lüner SV into the semi-finals of the Deutsche Amateurmeisterschaft, and the Westfalenmeister title followed in 1966/67. On the back of that run the club spent a decade, from 1963 to 1973, in the Regionalliga West.

Since then the club has settled into a lower rhythm, its clearest remaining fixture the derby with VfB Lünen, with Werner SC also a regular opponent. A first-round appearance in the DFB-Pokal in 1976/77 stands as the club's last brush with the national stage.

No player is tied to Lüner SV as closely as Dieter Zorc. The supporters still travel under a name of their own choosing, the Lippelöwen, the Lippe Lions, after the river that runs through the town.
