Uzbekistan built a women's national team on top of a football federation that dated back to 1946 under Soviet administration and had to start over after independence, rejoining FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation in 1994. The team itself took the field for the first time on 23 September 1995, away to India in Kota Kinabalu.
Home games are played at the Milliy Stadium in Tashkent, in white shirts, with blue reserved for away trips. The current head coach, Kotryna Kulbytė, arrived from Lithuania in January 2025 holding a UEFA Pro licence. Diyorakhon Khabibullaeva remains the team's benchmark forward, with 44 goals before her move to Trabzonspor.
Uzbekistan won the CAFA Women's Championship twice, in 2018 and again in 2022 in Tajikistan, both times without dropping a match, and picked up the first Nadezdha Cup in 2019 after beating Nepal 3–2 in the final. The 2026 Asian Cup brought a rare step forward: a 4–0 win over Bangladesh took them out of the group, before South Korea ended the run 6–0 in the quarter-final. At the Asian Games in Hangzhou they reached the last four before China closed out the bronze match 7–0.
Qualifying campaigns have exposed the gap above regional level. Wins as heavy as 9–0 over Bhutan and 7–0 over Jordan gave way, in the same Olympic qualifying stretch, to defeats by 0–3 and 0–10 against Australia.
