Znamya Truda

Saturn Ramenskoye have faced Znamya Truda since 1992. Znamya Truda's own claim to the region runs deeper: founded on 16 November 1909 by workers of the Morozov textile factory and by the Charnock brothers, it is held to be the oldest football club in Russia.

The town gave the club its early identity. Playing then as Orekhovo, it won the Moscow Football League four years running, from 1910 to 1913, before the Soviet reorganisation of football swept away that competition and the club it had built. What followed was decades in the lower tiers, broken by one afternoon in 1962 that still defines the club: a run to the final of the USSR Cup, lost to Shakhtar Donetsk, made by a side that had never played in the country's top division and never would. No other club managed that.

Titles since have been modest by comparison — the Third League in 1996, the Second League's Zone 'Center' in 1998. The stadium named after the club, opened in 1914, has held matches long enough to have seen both the 1913 championship side and the 1962 cup run.

Among those who wore the shirt, Yuri Kovalev is remembered furthest from Orekhovo-Zuyevo: a midfielder who left for Dynamo Kyiv and won the European Cup with them in 1960, a medal no other Morozovtsy player has matched.
