The Bison secured a 31-10 victory over the Hornets in their regular-season meeting on Sunday evening. The away side controlled proceedings from the opening drive, building an insurmountable lead before the final quarter. The result extends their winning streak to three consecutive games.
The Hornets entered the fixture following a heavy 49-3 defeat to the Bulldogs just one week prior. That loss had cast doubt over their defensive organisation, and the Bison made no mistake in exploiting the vulnerabilities. The visitors man-marked the playmaker in the first half, limiting the home side to a single field goal.
The Bison's recent form has been impeccable. They beat the Falcons 38-32, the Rams 38-0, and the Gamecocks 33-7 in their last three outings. This consistency has them firmly in contention for a playoff position. By then, the Hornets had already ground out the win against the Delta Devils 52-0, but that performance offered little comfort against this opposition.
And here's the thing — the Hornets' 17-28 loss to the Eagles earlier in the season had suggested they were overran in midfield. Against the Bison, the problem was compounded. The visitors blew them away in the second quarter, taking a commanding lead that the home side never threatened to close.
The victory leaves the Bison with momentum heading into their next fixture. They have one foot in the next round of contention, and this performance will keep their side in it. The Hornets, meanwhile, face a difficult run of fixtures with this result compounding their struggles.
