Lumberjacks saw off Trailblazers 35-23 in a regular-season NFL clash on Sunday at their home ground. The win extended the visitors' momentum while the hosts endured another defeat in a difficult run.
Trailblazers had been on a losing streak heading into this fixture. They lost 54-0 to Bobcats on August 30, then 63-7 against Cougars six days later, before falling 35-14 to Grizzlies on September 12. Three straight losses left them searching for answers.
Lumberjacks came into the match with mixed recent form. They beat Eagles 34-27 on August 29, lost 35-7 to Wildkats on September 6, then edged Cardinals 38-28 on September 12. Two wins in their last three games gave them a sense of direction.
By the time the whistle blew, the visitors had already put the game to bed early. Their defence held firm while their attack found the end zone with some regularity. Trailblazers could not find a way back into the contest.
The result means Lumberjacks have now won two of their last three meetings. Trailblazers' three consecutive defeats leave them with a question mark over their season trajectory. The gap between the two sides was clear on the scoreboard and in the performance.
Trailblazers will need to regroup quickly. They face another tough fixture next week and cannot afford to let this run continue. Lumberjacks, meanwhile, have the deeper squad and will look to build on this confidence.
