The Wildcatts secured a decisive 49:20 victory over the Demons in their regular-season meeting on September 20th, 2026. It was a result that turned a season of frustration into something resembling momentum for the home side.
Neither team had been in great form coming into this fixture. The Wildcatts had lost two of their previous three games, while the Demons were still reeling from a 6:80 thrashing by the Bulldogs just five days earlier. By then, both squads needed something to change.
For the Wildcatts, this was a chance to end a barren spell. They had managed only one victory in their last three outings, including a narrow 30:29 win over the Bears on August 29th. After losing two of three, holding together looked like the primary objective.
The Demons, meanwhile, came into this match already bruised. Their most recent result was a 14:38 defeat to the Lions, but it was the 74-point loss to the Bulldogs that dominated the conversation. They needed to show they could compete after such a heavy blow.
Interestingly, these two sides had met just three weeks earlier on August 28th, when the Demons won 42:37 at home. The Wildcatts had been outplayed that day, but this time around the script was reversed. The relationship between these teams now carries an edge neither side will forget.
