David Ayala

Ayala grew up at Estudiantes de La Plata, whose academy handed him his senior debut in December 2019 at seventeen, making him the second-youngest player in the club's history to reach that mark. He stayed with the first team through 2022, making 32 appearances before Portland Timbers brought him to Major League Soccer.

At Portland he became a regular, making 93 appearances and scoring four goals. The high point came in 2025: a stoppage-time winner against St. Louis CITY SC in June, followed by a goal and an assist in a 4–2 win over Sporting Kansas City that earned him a place in the MLS Team of the Matchday. That form led to his move to Inter Miami in January 2026, with Portland retaining a sell-on clause.

With Argentina's youth sides, Ayala won the South American U-17 Championship and the Valentin Granatkin Memorial, and he has represented the country at U-15, U-16 and U-17 level, though a senior call-up has not yet followed.
