About the player
Edson Lucas grew up in Santo Amaro, in Recife, supporting Sport Recife, and describes his arrival at the club as "living a dream." That loan move, agreed in March 2026 from Ferroviária-SP, brought him back to his own city.
A left-footed left-back, he came through the youth ranks at América-PE before moving into Retrô's academy in 2020. What followed was a string of loans that took him around Brazilian football: Parauapebas, Murici and CSA all had him for short stretches before Vitória took him on loan in 2023. There, he made eight appearances in the Série B as the club won the title and returned to the top flight. Vitória had an option to sign half his rights outright for around R$800,000 but chose not to take it up.
Retrô eventually sold half of Edson Lucas's economic rights to Ferroviária-SP in 2024. He scored his first goal in the Série B against Atlético-GO in August 2025 and finished 2026 as the Paulistão Série A-2's leader in accurate passes and offensive duels won.
Since returning to Sport Recife on loan, he has established himself as a regular starter, making 15 appearances and logging over 1,270 minutes in the first half of the 2026 season. He has yet to be called up by Brazil at any level.
