Hamilton Piedra

Hamilton Piedra came through at Deportivo Cuenca, making his debut in 2011 and working his way to undisputed starter by 2014. The move that mattered came in 2018, when Independiente del Valle paid around €500,000 for him. It brought silverware but not always a starting shirt: when the club beat Colón 3–1 in the 2019 Copa Sudamericana final, Piedra was among the substitutes, with Jorge Pinos in goal. The following year, Independiente del Valle reached the Recopa Sudamericana final against Flamengo; Piedra again watched the second leg from the bench as the team lost 3–0, Pinos starting once more.

A loan to Manta followed in 2021, before he returned to Deportivo Cuenca on loan in January 2022, a move that was later made permanent on a free transfer. He stayed at the club until 2024. At international level, Piedra has a single senior cap for Ecuador, earned in a 3–1 friendly win over Trinidad and Tobago on 27 July 2017; he was later named among the backup goalkeepers for 2018 World Cup qualifying but did not add to that appearance. Earlier, at youth level, he played three matches for Ecuador's under-20 side at the 2013 South American U-20 Championship in Argentina, where the team finished sixth.

Now at Aucas, Piedra has taken on the captain's armband in recent seasons.
