About the player
Hugo González made his name at América , coming through the club's Under-20 side before breaking into the first team in 2013 and winning back-to-back Clausura titles that year and the next, followed by two CONCACAF Champions League crowns. A permanent move to Monterrey in January 2017 brought further silverware, including the Copa MX twice and a CONCACAF Champions League title, interrupted by a loan spell at Necaxa where he added a Supercopa MX. Spells at Juárez and Mazatlán followed before he joined the national side, earning five caps and forming part of the squad that won the 2019 Gold Cup as understudy to Guillermo Ochoa.
His move to Toluca in July 2025 has proven the most productive stretch of his career. Installed as starting goalkeeper, he helped the club win the 2025 Apertura and the Campeón de Campeones final that followed.
