About the player
Jefferson Alfredo Intriago Mendoza came through the LDU Quito academy. Making his senior debut in January 2014, he grew into a captain's armband at the club and won the Ecuadorian Serie A title with them in 2018.
The move abroad came in July 2019, when Tigres UANL paid around $800,000 USD for him as part of a package deal. It was there, against Necaxa, that he picked up his only man-of-the-match award on record.
When the loan ended, Intriago left Tigres for Mazatlán FC, with the move confirmed on 29 November 2021. He remained at the club until March 2026.
On the international stage, Intriago has earned eight caps for Ecuador's senior side, debuting on 5 October 2017 against Chile in a World Cup qualifier. That call-up followed earlier representative football at youth level, with four appearances for the under-17s in 2013 and another four for the under-20s in 2015.
