About the player
Joshua Steiger's route to Amstetten has gone through the reserve side more than the first team. At Wolfsberger AC, he made just eight appearances for the senior squad while turning out 96 times for the second string, a spell interrupted by a season on loan at SV Lafnitz.
Steiger left Wolfsberg in 2022 and spent two seasons at SV Stripfing before signing for SKU Amstetten in May 2025 on a free transfer, agreeing a contract that runs to the summer of 2027. He now wears the number 10 shirt and operates centrally, as an attacking midfielder, favouring his right foot.
Before any of that, Steiger was a regular fixture in Austria's youth setups. He was capped at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-19 level, scoring at each stage along the way, with his most productive spell coming for the under-17s, where he collected 13 caps and two goals. He has yet to add a senior international appearance to that record.
