About the player
Marco Antônio spent his teenage years shifting clubs before he ever nailed down a first-team place. He featured for the first team in 2021, after producing two youth titles along the way, the Campeonato Cearense Sub-20 in 2019 and the Campeonato Brasileiro de Aspirantes in 2020. In 2022, the CIES Football Observatory rated him the tenth-best Under-23 midfielder in South America.
The move to Clube do Remo in early 2022 brought his first senior trophy, the Campeonato Paraense. He then went to Ypiranga-GA before a February 2023 transfer to Botafogo-PB gave him the clearest run of his career: 17 starts in 27 matches and a Campeonato Paraibano title with the Paraíba club.
Since then his career has moved between Náutico and CRB. He joined Náutico in 2024 and was loaned out to CRB from the end of August that year, making his debut against Vila Nova on 4 September 2024, before returning to Náutico to see out the campaign and continue into 2025. In December 2025 he signed for Vila Nova-GO on a contract running to November 2027, only to be loaned out again in March 2026, this time to Botafogo-SP for the remainder of the Série B season.
He has not been capped by Brazil at senior or youth level.
